A tidbit from my past life in the bike advocacy movement: Portland's Morrison Bridge will get a bike lane by the end of 2009. A contract has been awarded and construction is expected to start this spring and finish by the end of the year.
Of the eleven Portland bridges over the Willamette, only four have good bike connections. Southeast Portland is chock full of bicyclists, and forcing cyclists to go out of their way to cross the river has long been a headache. Some bold people cross the bridge anyway, crossing dangerous on and off ramps to I-5.
As I understand it, the two-way bike lane will be on the south side of the bridge.
More about the project from Multnomah County, which manages the bridge.
Hooray!

great news Evan.. thanks for sharing. we've been wanting to look into this long-languishing project.

Samara Beach ... Costa Rica's hidden tropical paradise on the Pacific ocean. It is the perfect, long, white sand beach with shallow, gentle waters. Samara has a superb coral reef and its own picturesque and deserted wooded island in the bay - Isla Chora. It is popular with swimmers and surfers, and it is an ideal beach for your kids.

We have to get our Canton trip planned soon:)
You must have read my mind: where did she get those very cool pants? So now, Miss Enabler, I have made it onto their website and gotten on their catalog list. Thanks.

I had been searching on google for blogs about Hiking and cycling when this post showed up in the results. Although not really what I was looking for it was really worthy of the read and for that I would give it four stars.

It is great that they are thinking in a sector of population that they travel with bikes. I know that it takes to time to fight for it but the feeling of acomplishment is huge.
