OLCV: YES on Measure 56, Because Voting Matters

Measure 56 allows bond measures at all May and November elections to be decided by the voters who vote, instead of people who don't vote. Oregon's outdated "double majority" rule means that people who don't vote can override the wishes of the majority of voters. 

Important parks, water quality, trails and open space bond and revenue measures often lose out to other issues because all issues must be crowded onto one ballot every two years. Those measures are sometimes not even sent to voters.

Measure 56 empowers local communities to act on good ideas instead of being penalized by non-voters.

OLCV urges you to vote YES on Measure 56.
