Is this the most travelled ballot in Oregon?

Liz_marcello
Liz Marcello worked for OLCV in 2006 helping us elect Lynn Peterson to the Clackamas County Commission. Today, she’s working for the United Nations in Senegal.

She wanted to vote, but realized that she forgot to change her registration to overseas, meaning that the ballot got mailed at the normal time to her permanent address in Portland. (If you’re officially overseas, they mail you ballots earlier).

It was May 9th and the ballot was due in 11 days. So what did she do?

She went way beyond the call of duty and had her ballot shipped by DHL to Senegal. She voted. And then shipped it back to OLCV’s office in Portland.

In the process, her ballot went through Ohio, New York, Belgium, and then Senegal. On the return trip, it went through France, Germany, England, New York, Ohio, and home to Portland. (I don’t quite get the DSL routing within Europe).

It arrived today in the nick of time.

Here's the travel report from DHL. (No snarky comments about carbon emissions -- the planes were flying regardless of her vote).
