According to an article from Politico.com, Republican Sen. John Warner of Virginia, Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Ken Mehlman have recognized that if Republicans continue to deny global warming exists they will suffer the consequences.
Younger voters and suburbanites are looking for leaders that will tackle global warming head-on and find solutions to our behaviors that are causing the earth's climate to change.
I can't wait to see how things play out in 2008 when the heat is on.
Read the entire article Generational test for Republicans.

This just in: Republicans acknowledge that water is wet and the sun rises in the east. What's next? That the earth is round? Never!
Such a shame the Republicans have chosen to take a stick-fingers-in-ears-and-sing-la-la-la-la-la approach to global climate change. This from the party that used to actually recognize that conservatism and conservationism are two sides of the same coin. Hopefully the article you linked to is a sign of change. We can't afford for environmental protection to be a partisan issue any more.

Thanks for your post Jack.
I think it's a shame that Republicans have ignored a very obvious reason to protect our planet: economic benefit.
Protecting our natural resources - wood, herbal medicines, water - is a giant investment in the long term.

Fascinating how such a large portion of our population lacks the ability to project outcomes based on observable data. Let's hope they didn't wait too long to "see the light."
